Fakhar Zaman has just picked his all-time T20 XI and it includes a few huge susprises. The 29-year-old continued the trend of cricketers picking their best starting XIs across the three formats of the game, but not without receiving a fair share of both negative and positive feedback.
Much to the shock of cricket fans around the world, Fakhar decided not to pick the likes of Babar Azam and Virat Kohli for his team. Ironically, Babar is the ICC No. 1 T20I batsman at the moment while Virat arguably the world’s best batter across all 3 formats.
It seems as if Fakhar Zaman decided to pick a team rich in six-hitting prowess. Much like his own batting style, the flamboyant opener seemingly wanted to pick the world’s hardest and mightiest strikers of the ball, along with some specialist T20 bowlers.
Fakhar goes with 2 Indians in his team
AB De villiers would make it to anyone’s all-time T20 XI. So no surprises there, as Fakhar includes arguably the greatest T20 batsman of all time in the Protean. Alongside AB, the left-hander picked Indian opener Rohit Sharma and then stylish Englishman Jason Roy.
Surprisingly, Shoaib Malik is the only Pakistan player who has found a place in the side. Jos Buttler and Glenn Maxwell add more firepower to the batting lineup.
“I would first choose South Africa’s batsman AB De Villiers and then India’s opener Rohit Sharma. England’s hard-hitting batsman Jason Roy would be on my team. Pakistan’s all-rounder Shoaib Malik comes in at number four. After Shoaib Malik, I would include England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler in the team. Australia’s all-rounder Glenn Maxwell slots in at number six,” Fakhar said.
Ben Stokes and Kieron Pollard are the two specialist all-rounders in the time. The pair have proven their qualities in both areas of the game over the years and it is very hard to not include them in the world’s best T20 squad.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan sees his name in the squad. The spin magician has terrorized many a batsmen over the years with his high quality variations.
Mitchell Starc and Jasprit Bumrah will form a deadly pace duo for Fakhar Zaman’s all-time T20 XI. The pair have been super consistent for their respective national sides and have understandably been ranked in the top 5 of ICC’s bowlers rankings for some time now.
“At number seven I would include England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes followed by West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard. The fast-bowlers would be Australia’s Mitchell Starc and India’s Jasprit Bumrah. Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan would be my spinner in the team,” Fakhar added
